Vivian Byron John Edwards was one of a dwindling number with memories of prewar Repton. Born in Leicester in 1920, he had a distinguished Repton career, entering the school in 1934, becoming head of priory, a school prefect and representing the school at football hockey and fives which he captained. He excelled at all ball games, but especially at football. as a freescoring centreforward. He gained his “teamer” in 1936 and led the line for a further two seasons.
