Re: Why e-cigarettes are dividing the public health community

The way tobacco industry is promoting e cigarettes
reminded me of era when they brought filtered cigarettes and declared them safe for human health. At present there are no long term studies which can say with out doubt that e cigarettes have no health risks at all. First commercial cigarette came in 1865 and it was in 1950 when we came to know that cigarettes can cause lung cancer. We should not support e cigarette as a harm reduction strategy or as safer alternate to smoking cigarettes. It will be a step backward if we allow e cigarettes to be allowed at public places.
