Duke University in North Carolina has settled lawsuits alleging that patients with cancer were “fraudulently” entered into clinical trials that were based on flawed research by the oncologist Anil Potti.
Eight lawsuits were filed against Duke and Potti by patients or deceased patients’ estates, claiming that they were exposed to unnecessary and harmful chemotherapy during the trials, which were finally discontinued in 2010. …
