A Canadian same sex couple is suing a US sperm bank for misrepresenting the achievements and identity of the donor who is the biological father of their son, after they discovered his name through a breach of confidentiality. The donor is also a defendant in the suit.
When Angela Collins and Margaret Elizabeth Hanson, of Port Hope, Ontario, decided to have a family, they chose one of three US sperm banks approved by Canada’s health department, Xytex Corporation of Atlanta, Georgia. Their research led them to this company, their complaint alleges, because of its claims of arduous screening of donors.
