More than 100 cancer experts attack Saatchi bill as potentially dangerous

Leading cancer specialists have warned that the peer Maurice Saatchi’s Medical Innovation Bill risks encouraging “irresponsible” experimentation with untested treatments that could cause “serious harm and suffering to patients.”

The private member’s bill, aimed at encouraging UK doctors to try experimental treatments where all else has failed without fear of litigation, was proposed by the Conservative peer after his wife died from ovarian cancer in 2011.
