Government pledges to assess risk of vCJD transmission

The UK government has promised to ascertain whether new guidance is needed on decontaminating surgical instruments to help protect patients from infection with variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (vCJD), the human form of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE).
