New programme is launched to embed patient safety in the NHS

Patients, healthcare staff, and other organisations will jointly set and monitor local patient safety priorities as part of a major new initiative across England.
The new programme was launched by Jeremy Hunt, health secretary, on 14 October. It will create 15 regional patient safety collaboratives led by Academic Health Science Networks to ensure input from patients, the NHS, academia, the third sector, and industry. NHS England, which will coordinate the scheme in partnership with NHS Improving Quality, described the programme as “the largest and most comprehensive of its kind in the world.” …
