US court will rehear case that threatened health reform law

A US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit agreed on 4 September to rehear a case that had threatened to upend the Affordable Care Act.
In an earlier decision a three judge panel of the court had ruled, in a 2-1 majority, that the federal government did not have legal authority to provide subsidies to people who purchased health coverage through government run health insurance exchanges.
The exchanges were designed to provide a marketplace where people and families could comparison shop for health insurance and qualify for income based subsidies to help them pay their premiums. Of more than seven million people who have purchased coverage through the exchanges about 80% …
