Scotland’s first minister, Alex Salmond, has claimed that voting for independence in the country’s upcoming referendum will safeguard its health service from cuts and privatisation. But the UK prime minister, David Cameron, immediately rejected the claim and accused Salmond of scaremongering ahead of the vote on 18 September.
