Inadequacy of remote desktop interface for independent reanalysis of data from drug trials

Rapid Response:

It is very unfortunate that the authors have had such a difficult experience with the GSK remote desktop. I have some limited experience with a non-commercial remote desktop, where it was possible to export anything that did not compromise patient confidentiality, including graphs. While I would not describe the process as convenient, it was far better than that of the authors. Clearly it is possible for GSK to improve their interface.

Incidentally, R has some of the best graphing capabilities of any software I know. Please see

for inspiration.
