Slowdown in production of treated bed nets damages fight against malaria

Though the malaria death rate has reduced dramatically, prevention of the disease has been set back in recent years because the supply of bed nets treated with insecticide has slowed, a World Health Organization report has said.

The World Malaria Report 2013 shows that global efforts to eliminate malaria have saved an estimated 3.3 million lives since 2000 and that between 2000 and 2012 death rates fell by 45% worldwide and by 49% in Africa.1
