Measles outbreak in Texas may be drawing to a close

The Tarrant County Health Department in Texas reported on 29 August that no new cases had been confirmed in the measles outbreak that began near Fort Worth in early August and that all 21 people with confirmed cases were no longer infectious.

Russell Jones, the county’s chief epidemiologist, told the BMJ that the health department was now investigating fewer than 10 people with rash and fever. These investigations will take up to a week, and if no new cases are seen within three weeks the outbreak will be considered …
