Public health staff will have pensions invested in tobacco under transfer to local government schemes

NHS public health professionals will have to join the Local Government Pension Scheme if they move post voluntarily when responsibility for public health is transferred from the NHS to local authorities on 1 April.
Only staff who are moved compulsorily to another post within the same local authority, and public health professionals and staff in the 1995 section of the NHS pension scheme who are within 10 years of pension age, will not have to move scheme.1
