Experts fear that patients may stop using statins after a study concluded that their use was associated with a slightly increased risk of musculoskeletal conditions, including injuries and pain.
The retrospective cohort study, published in JAMA Internal Medicine, used data from a military healthcare system.1 The researchers compared 6969 people who had used statins for at least 90 days with the same number of statistically matched non-users.
