George Stewart Kilpatrick was one of several Scottish physicians who influenced the development of the Welsh National School of Medicine in the 1970s and 1980s. He will be remembered with warmth and enduring affection by all who knew him. Professor Kilpatrick started at the Welsh National School of Medicine in 1962-3 as a senior lecturer in the department of tuberculosis and chest diseases and in the medical unit. He was the school’s dean in 1970-1. In May 1980 he became David Davies professor of tuberculosis and chest diseases.
