With the passing of John Barnes Foster (“Jack”), British neurology has lost one of its finest clinical exponents. Educated at Newcastle Grammar school, Jack barely missed a first at Newcastle Medical School and soon excelled while training in Newcastle and at the National Hospital, Queen Square.
