The Department of Health has given the go ahead to plans to simplify the approval process for research studies in the NHS. The Health Research Authority (HRA), set up last year, will now consult on a proposed single assessment for new studies and trial a pilot scheme by next spring.
The authority’s chief executive, Janet Wisely, said, “The HRA welcomes the opportunity to lead this and other work, to make it easier to do good quality research in the UK.
