Pranab Sathia excelled academically early in his medical career, attaining a gold medal in anatomy. He graduated from SCB Medical College in India and came to the UK in 1959.
He set up his general practice in Cannock, which he continued until his retirement in 2000, and was an active member of the Cannock Medical Society throughout. He was one of the founder members of the Orissa Society of UK, a medical and social community through which he engaged in charitable activities. Having played snooker and badminton in his younger days, he enjoyed watching the games after retirement. He had a keen interest in movies, especially from Bollywood. He leaves Urmila, his wife of 43 years, a retired gynaecologist and his partner in general practice; two daughters, both of whom are doctors; and six grandchildren.
