GMC is ordered to pay doctor £22 000 after judge quashes panel’s findings against her

A hospital doctor who was suspended for 12 months by the General Medical Council for making dishonest statements in a job application has won a high court ruling quashing all seven findings of dishonesty.

In a damning judgment, Mr Justice Bean said that on one charge against Negin Shamsian there had been “a basic failure by the [GMC fitness to practise] panel to follow due process.” He described the panel’s reasoning on another charge as “most peculiar” and its findings on other charges as “flawed” and “unsound.”
