After training at University College Hospital, London, George Harry Hall (“Harry”) worked in London and Bristol, plus a spell of national service in the Royal Air Force. A year in Philadelphia studying the pathophysiology of finger clubbing was thoroughly enjoyed, though showed him that academia would not suit his temperament in the long term.
