Number of organ donors rises by 15% in Spain after doctors are given good practice guide

A guide circulated to health professionals in Spain that was based on the results of a three year study of how different hospitals tackle the issue of organ donation from brain stem dead donors seems to have significantly improved donation rates.

The Spanish National Transplant Organisation (Organización Nacional de Transplantes (ONT)) released the new guide to good practice in the last quarter of 2010 and has seen donation rates improve sharply in the first quarter of this year.
