An atlas of variation in the NHS is to be published before the end of the year.
Muir Gray, chief knowledge officer of the NHS and director of the Oxford Centre for Healthcare Transformation, made the announcement at the Evidence 2010 conference in London this week.
“For the past 20 years cost effectiveness, quality, and safety have been the key words, but for the next 20 years value is going to be the key word,” Sir Muir told the conference, which was organised jointly by the BMJ Evidence Centre and the Centre for Evidence Based Medicine at the University of Oxford.
