Pregnant women to be included in target group for flu vaccination

Pregnant women will be included as one of the target groups for the UK’s annual influenza vaccination drive. The decision was taken in the wake of the higher levels of complications and admissions to hospital experienced by women in last year’s H1N1 swine flu pandemic. This year’s seasonal vaccine as usual contains antigenic components active against three strains of flu, one of which is the H1N1 swine flu strain.
