Plans to concentrate all Dutch paediatric oncology care in one national centre in Amsterdam have stirred controversy among doctors, patients, and health service planners.
About 500-550 children are newly diagnosed with cancer every year in the Netherlands and currently receive specialised care in one of 17 paediatric oncology services located within teaching hospitals.
