The gap year boy is packing. Exams are long forgotten, and graduation (48 hours ago) is already history. Coloured T shirts, torn jeans, flip flops, fins, Frisbees, etc, are strewn across the living room floor. There is much activity on Facebook, centred on a rendezvous next week in a bar in Central America. He needs to go shopping for his list of “essentials” (more T shirts, pop songs for his iPod, phone charger, Rough Guide, bandana).
