    After primary education at Hyndland School, Glasgow, Alistair Aitken Clark (“Alistair”) attended the High School of Glasgow between 1929 and 1936. He served as second lieutenant in the 6th Battalion Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders (TA) but returned to university in January 1940, graduating MB ChB in January 1942. He married Connie in June 1942, and his first medical post was casualty house surgeon at the Western Infirmary during 1942-3.
