The Department of Anaesthesia, College of Medicine University of Lagos and the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, as well as the entire membership of the Nigerian Society of Anaesthetists, announce the death of Professor Dorothy Jane Oluman ffoulkes-Crabbe, popularly known as “Mama Anaesthesia,” on the 24 December 2008 at her home in Accra, Ghana.
Mama joined the staff of the College of Medicine University of Lagos and the Lagos University Teaching Hospital as a lecturer/consultant in 1968 and became a professor of anaesthesia in 1978. She retired in 1999.
