Rapid responses are electronic comments to the editor. They enable our users
to debate issues raised in articles published on bmj.com. A rapid response
is first posted online. If you need the URL (web address) of an individual
response, simply click on the response headline and copy the URL from the
browser window. A proportion of responses will, after editing, be published
online and in the print journal as letters, which are indexed in PubMed.
Rapid responses are not indexed in PubMed and they are not journal articles.
The BMJ reserves the right to remove responses which are being
wilfully misrepresented as published articles or when it is brought to our
attention that a response spreads misinformation.
From March 2022, the word limit for rapid responses will be 600 words not
including references and author details. We will no longer post responses
that exceed this limit.
The word limit for letters selected from posted responses remains 300 words.
Of course, we can not give advice to a successful politician like
Barack Obama, who spent only four years from his victorious passing in the
Illinois elections to the U.S. presidency. The planet's inhabitants cannot
forget that the new White House occupant is one of the global leaders and
he will be there for a very long time. From his successes and mistakes, we
all can get positive and negative experiences. So it’s good for all us to
give some tips.
Obama's slogan has been the need for changes in his country. It is clear
that the great power course requires urgent changes, especially in health
and education, the most important ones. The US needs to continue its
health and education politics delivered to children, from the 70s, in
schools. There is no justification for the United States situation, where
more than 40 million people consume illicit drugs, according to data
circulating in American internet web sites, and the nation refuses to
recognize that, this is the US major calamity facing education and public
health.
Around the world, nobody believes in the seriousness of the American anti-drug policy, which criminalizes the production and traffic, but it's
incredibly deficient and negligent with consumers of psychoactive substances.
The new United States President has promised to change, as soon as
possible, the weapons business, the all types of firearms proliferation
easily placed to be reached by anyone, because of a misunderstanding by
people of the free market. How can US survive during a long term as a cultured
society, if there are 200 million firearms in the hands of ordinary
people?
Nobody can
play with the savings of millions of pensioners and savers, around the
world, to enrich him selves to exaggeration, without bringing to the
country to serious social and economical consequences.
The change must also come to the US's international politics. Humanity
today counts all problems and disasters caused by the Bush administration,
with its few but firm and dangerous ideas. The world implores the United States to come back to being a country that loves peace and work.
