    Educated in Eastern Nigeria, Walter Chukwuma Uduku went on to the Higher College, Lagos, and was employed in teaching positions in Buguma and Aba, Eastern Nigeria, before becoming a medical student in Edinburgh in 1952. He became one of the pioneer group of internationally qualified doctors in the then Eastern Region of Nigeria.
