New German law bans genetic tests of fetuses for adult illnesses

After 10 years of debate the German parliament has passed a strict law aimed at preventing misuse of genetic tests.

“[The] purpose of the law is to protect individuals from discrimination because of their genetic constitution,” said the health minister, Ulla Schmidt, last Friday in Berlin.
