MRSA infections in England continue to fall: There were 725 meticillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) bloodstream infections in England between July and September 2008, a 13% decrease on the previous quarter (April to June), when there were 837 cases and a 33% reduction on the corresponding quarter of 2007. The health minister Ann Keen said that the fall was partly a result of extra investment, tighter regulations, more matrons, and the “bare below the elbow” dress code.
