US residents whose arthritic hands can no longer squeeze the trigger of a conventional gun may soon be able to start firing again.
A pistol, specifically designed for use by older people, disabled people, or others who may be at a physical disadvantage with potential attackers, is being offered for sale in the United States for about $300 (£200; €230). Described as an ergonomically innovative single shot double action defensive firearm that can be fired with either hand, its firing pin is released by the thumb instead of the index finger.
The developer, Constitutional Arms, says that it is seeking to obtain medical equipment coding from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services for the pistol. If successful, it is possible …
