Rapid responses are electronic comments to the editor. They enable our users
to debate issues raised in articles published on bmj.com. A rapid response
is first posted online. If you need the URL (web address) of an individual
response, simply click on the response headline and copy the URL from the
browser window. A proportion of responses will, after editing, be published
online and in the print journal as letters, which are indexed in PubMed.
Rapid responses are not indexed in PubMed and they are not journal articles.
The BMJ reserves the right to remove responses which are being
wilfully misrepresented as published articles or when it is brought to our
attention that a response spreads misinformation.
From March 2022, the word limit for rapid responses will be 600 words not
including references and author details. We will no longer post responses
that exceed this limit.
The word limit for letters selected from posted responses remains 300 words.
There are thousands of role-modeling moments during a day of
teaching, but a few of them are opportunities waiting to be seized. I had
learned that if you become angry over little things, the big issues are
never even addressed. As a role model, the students need us to be
advocates, not tyrants.
There are many ways in which teachers, consciously and unconsciously,
provide role models for their students and residents. Two of the most
significant aspects of learning accomplished through role modeling are
critical thinking and professional role behavior in interaction with
patients and interdisciplinary colleagues.
An enthusiastic attitude toward students and residents provides a
positive atmosphere for students to learn by giving not only a positive
feedback but also a negative feedback in a positive manner. Using your
communication skills and demonstrating problem-solving ability in the
clinical setting will help them to report clinical data to staff personnel
in a timely fashion.
Working in GP as a Foundation Year has really given me the
opportunity to enjoy the benefits of feedback.After every case that I saw
during a surgery I discussed the patient and my consultation was assessed
by one of the partners which was done on an informal basis.
But such individual and detailed feedback on a consultation would be
more realistic in Primary care settings where generally it is much more
relaxed
In a hospital setting informal feedbacks dont occur as much as in
primary care and feedback occurs mostly during signing of work place based
assessments or during appraisals which is much more formal and does not
give a clear picture to a trainee on his development
