African health ministers commit to meningitis vaccine: Health ministers meeting in Yaoundé have agreed to prepare meningitis control plans, including the introduction of the new vaccine, and to improve information exchange for epidemic response. The new product, conjugate meningococcal A vaccine (MenAfriVac) will be priced at $0.40 (£0.23; €0.28). It was developed through the Meningitis Vaccine Project set up in 2001, with core funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
