Rapid responses are electronic letters to the editor. They enable our users to debate issues raised in articles published on thebmj.com. Although a selection of rapid responses will be included online and in print as readers' letters, their first appearance online means that they are published articles. If you need the url (web address) of an individual response, perhaps for citation purposes, simply click on the response headline and copy the url from the browser window. Letters are indexed in PubMed.
Following Fiona Godlee's editorial this week, I am interested to know
who she thinks is reading the BMJ?
In the editorial, she writes "Junior doctors are our future medical
colleagues and will be our lifeline when we and our families need medical
care"
It just so happens that as an F1 doctor, other junior doctors are my
current colleagues, not my "future medical colleagues". I do value and
support them. Despite that, I'm hoping that they won't be my only lifeline
if me or my family get ill, as I'd quite like some senior colleagues
around too, if that's ok.
Following the recent problems with introduction of specialist
training, the divisions between junior and senior doctors have the
potential to become wider. Please don't forget us; we're part of the team
too!
Re: Junior doctors and the future
You're quite right. It should have read "present and future
colleagues."
