After qualifying in Newcastle in 1942 William (“Bill”) Moonie served in the Royal Air Force until the end of the second world war. In 1945 he joined a practice in Norton-on-Tees and helped to develop one of the leading primary healthcare teams in England. He was greatly respected by both partners and patients for his diligent dedication to his work and he received the fellowship of the Royal College of General Practitioners in 1980. He died after a very short illness with all his family close by. Predeceased by his wife, Jeanne, in 1978, he leaves three children and seven grandchildren.
