    Aloysius Michels (“Lou”) grew up and qualified as a doctor in the Netherlands, arriving in England in 1988 on a Vespa scooter. His training took him to Rochford, Southend-on-Sea, Leicester, and then Boston, where he met his wife, Jo. After a working honeymoon in Perth, Australia, during which time he enjoyed windsurfing and qualified as a private pilot, Lou returned to Leeds to complete his senior registrar training.
