The test talked about is in no way a myth and I should know as I had one in 88 in the UK (NHS)
And I know of others who had the umbrella test too.

Why would it be portrayed as a myth now?

BTW I came across this as I was trying to find the name of the test I had done many years ago, a test that seem to have been removed from the collective memory of the health care providers

A small umbrella was inserted then opened and removed.
This was done twice to take a sample and to clear out junk and wow it did the trick I felt young again and could pee like a racehorse.
It was it no way painful, quite the oppisit it was a relief.
