Accenture withdraws from NHS IT contract

The £12bn (€18bn; $23bn) programme to computerise the NHS in England has lost its second largest contractor. Accenture, a consulting and information technology (IT) services company that is based mainly in the United States but registered in Bermuda last week announced that it is withdrawing from contracts worth some £2bn to create electronic health records in the northeast and east of England.
Although expected, the move rekindled speculation about the future of the world's largest civil IT programme.
