From this year, junior doctors' training will include education on patient safety, with the creation of a national patient safety education programme aimed at second year foundation trainees.
The “Safe foundations: junior doctors and patient safety” programme has been put together by the Royal College of Physicians on behalf of the National Patient Safety Agency.
The steering group overseeing the project included representatives from the agency, the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges, postgraduate deaneries, clinical tutors, junior doctors, and patients.
