David Ronald (“Ronnie”) Kilgour was the eldest of three medical brothers, each serving in a different armed service. Ronnie was posted with the navy to the Far East, narrowly escaping becoming a prisoner of war when Singapore fell. After the war Ronnie had appointments at St Mary's Hospital in London and was senior registrar at Jessops Hospital, Sheffield. He was a skilful and well organised surgeon, taking great interest in his juniors' surgical training as consultant in Southampton. He retired in 1978. Predeceased by four months by his wife, he leaves two children.
