Rapid responses are electronic comments to the editor. They enable our users to debate issues raised in articles published on bmj.com. A rapid response is first posted online. If you need the URL (web address) of an individual response, simply click on the response headline and copy the URL from the browser window. A proportion of responses will, after editing, be published online and in the print journal as letters, which are indexed in PubMed. Rapid responses are not indexed in PubMed and they are not journal articles. The BMJ reserves the right to remove responses which are being wilfully misrepresented as published articles.
Doctors concerned with the activity of the GMC, may be interested to
review the report of the Health Review Group. This is currently open for
consultation for a period of 6 weeks ending 12th September.
This report raises a number of fundamental concerns;
failure to locate any objective research to support its conclusions;
failure to allow a doctor to provide independent medical reports of their
condition, instead relying entirely on GMC psychiatric reports; direct
workplace reporting to the GMC without consulting the doctor involved;
lack of reference to the Disability Discrimination Act
Copies may be obtained from the GMC directly or from myself - please email
me, with your address at firstname.lastname@example.org then send your
comments to the GMC.
