As all medical students will know, the culture of separation between the medical professions starts early. This month, the International Federation of Medical Students' Associations (IFMSA) has teamed up with their international pharmacy student counterparts and European bodies representing medical and pharmaceutical students to consider interprofessional collaboration for the first time.
The results are plans for the first healthcare student congress in November 2005, to be hosted by medical and pharmacy students in Malta. The WorldMaPS meeting will bring together hundreds of healthcare students from all over the world to learn about how patient care can be improved through inter-professional collaboration.
