Gynaecologists are expected to enjoy gin and tonic and know about wine. Most of us manage the first without difficulty (off duty, of course) and bluff our way through the second. I have colleagues who really can tell their Pouilly Fuisse from their Pouilly Fumé, and jolly impressive they are too. It is like watching a table conjurer—entertaining but faintly irritating.
