Douglas Keith MacTaggart

He studied history at Aberdeen University before reading medicine. In 1954 he became medical officer of health for Paignton and Brixham and in 1957 for Torquay. In 1968 he became medical officer of health for Torbay and in 1980 community health physician for Bury. During the 1950s he sat his Bar exams and became a member of Gray's Inn. In 1974 he became port medical officer for Torbay as well as community health physician. A severe stroke in 1988 left him paralysed on his right side and unable to speak. He leaves a wife, June; two sons; and four grandchildren.
