Up to two fifths of women and almost one fifth of men lack interest in sex, according to the results of a study published in the BMJ (2003;327:426-7). Catherine Mercer's group at the Royal Free and University College Medical School, London, interviewed 11 161 men and women aged 16-44 using a computer assisted self interview.
