Editor—Hart and Wellings pay insufficient attention to HIV-AIDS prevention efforts undertaken during the mid-1980s, which may represent the most significant medicalization of sexuality in the 20th century. The enormous social, scientific, medical, and public health consequences of these efforts speak to the complex and multiple dimensions of such a process.
