Medical students develop software for pioneering electronic patient records

Two London medical students have designed a computer system allowing patients to access their electronic medical records at the scan of a fingerprint.

The Patient Access Electronic Record System (PAERS), which recognises patients using a fingerprint and identification number, is now available to patients at Wells Park Surgery in Sydenham, south east London.
