US firms act to reduce obesity: A group of major US companies has founded the Institute on the Costs and Health Effects of Obesity to combat obesity, a problem costing them around $12bn (£7.2bn; €10.4bn) a year in staff medical bills, reduced productivity, increased absenteeism, and higher health and disability insurance premiums.
