Rapid responses are electronic letters to the editor. They enable our users to debate issues raised in articles published on thebmj.com. Although a selection of rapid responses will be included online and in print as readers' letters, their first appearance online means that they are published articles. If you need the url (web address) of an individual response, perhaps for citation purposes, simply click on the response headline and copy the url from the browser window. Letters are indexed in PubMed.
Given the difficulty in recruiting GPs to work in the NHS, might not
the considerable unhappiness evident among German Doctors be a wonderful
opportunity to actively recruit highly skilled and capable people from
Germany to work here in the UK ?

In Quest of Excellence, but they force us to Fraud
Dear Sir,
1996 the ministry of health changed the rules in Germany.
The doctors had to cheat.
If they did not accept cheating,
they lost more than 30 percent of their income.
Everybody cheated.
Since July 1997 the rules were changed again.
But ethics had gone.
Everyone was forced to be a cheater.
Survival of the fittest was the new medical paradigm.
And now the ministry of health again tries to change the rules in
Germany.
And again the doctors, who are not willing to cheat, will be the
loosers.
The cheaters again will the winners.
And that is all.
Yours Friedrich Flachsbart
GP in own praxis since 1986
